Our students undertake high quality school experience placements for approximately 8 weeks every year in at least one of our partnership schools each year.
These placements are organised by us and tailored to your needs. We work with over 250 primary, first and middle schools in Gloucestershire and beyond. Our partnership includes small village and large city school settings, which means we can give you a broad range of experiences.
In school, you’ll be welcomed into the community and supported by expert mentors, lead mentors and link tutors, all focused on your development as a teacher. With the agreement of the course leader, it is possible to undertake one of these placements in a special school setting, or in a Welsh school.
Working with children is a memorable highlight our graduates recall about their experience at UoG, whether that’s in a school setting or when children visit us on campus for events or to join one of our sessions.
Hands-on, interactive learning experiences at university are most engaging, according to our students, which is why we spend the most time on these. Our students engage practically with the type of activities children might do in the classroom, so they can understand the teaching and learning potential they offer.
We look forward to and value the relationships we build with our students, who then go on to become our colleagues in the teaching profession. Students tell us that they get on well with the primary tutor team and feel well supported.
